Description:
The candidate for this position will be responsible for creating and maintaining applications in an enterprise system that was developed using Java/J2EE and Oracle database technologies, including web frameworks, web services, and database record-level security and stored procedures.
The candidate will have a role in all parts of the software development lifecycle. The candidate will be required to work with senior government officials to understand and document enterprise application requirements. The candidate either will lead or participate in system design discussions. The candidate will create plans for building new applications or making modifications to existing applications and provide LOE estimates to management. The candidate will produce system design documentation. The candidate will build or make modifications to applications following plans created in the planning process. The candidate will be required to participate in the software testing process both at the application and user levels. This includes creating plans for validating applications they have developed and supporting the applications produced by colleagues by providing testing support to those applications. The candidate will prepare scripts for software deployment to production. The candidate will follow good configuration management practices and the configuration management policies/procedures that have been established on the program. The candidate may be required to provide end user training on new applications that have been deployed.
In addition to interfacing with customers and other software developers, the candidate for this position will work with members of management, the infrastructure team, and information security staff in the following areas: identification of system requirements for the software development environment, recommendations for future development direction, software deployments, and incorporation of policy-driven requirements into application design.
Required Skills
Minimum of 5 years Java programming experience
Minimum of 2 years experience developing web based applications using JSP / Struts / Servlets / JDBC or similar technology
Experience with relational database systems and SQL, preferably Oracle (9i or higher)
Strong troubleshooting and problem resolution experience
B.S. in computer science, computer engineering, or similar degree program
Desired Skills
Experience with JavaScript, HTML, CSS
Proficiency with Sun Solaris
Experience with XML / XSLT
Experience with Borland StarTeam or similar configuration control tools
Experience with Google Web Toolkit (GWT)
Prior experience developing software using agile methodologies
Other Skills that May be Considered Helpful
C#, C++, or JavaScript experience
Spring/Hibernate experience
XML experience
Toad, Embarcadero DB Artisan, or experience using other Oracle Tools
Cognos BI and TM1 experience
