Senior Systems Engineer
Clearance Level: Full-Scope Poly
Location: Herndon, VA

The selected applicant will be required to work closely with the Government customer and other Systems Engineers to identify and develop requirements for the future architectural vision of a major Government organization. Helps refine the future architecture, and identifies and executes initiatives to help realize the architectural vision on individual software development task orders. Works with vendors to understand how their product lines fit into the current and future architecture. Stays informed on current market trends and advises program management and customer. Depending on skills and interests, the candidate may be forward deployed to software development teams to lend assistance with technical challenges.  Performs trade studies and analyses using a methodical, collaborative approach, and presents to the Government the trade-offs, risks, and advantages/disadvantages of the identified solutions. Excellent communications skills (both written and verbal) are required. Familiarity and experience applying Systems Engineering Best Practices is required. The successful candidate will develop and maintain relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners, vendors, team members and contractors.

Required Skills:
The candidate will need to have a very broad range of experience, with a deep level of knowledge in one or two of the following areas:  Software and system architecture development and associated issues; Software/system requirement specification and management; Object-oriented analysis, design, and architectural patterns with the Unified Modeling Language (UML); Agile methods, preferably with Scrum; Network Architecture and Design; Disaster Recovery/High Availability; Cloud computing.

Preferred Skills:
Experience with the Project Management Framework is desired. Familiarity with Configuration Management, automated testing, and Quality Assurance processes is preferred. Familiarity with relational databases such as Oracle or Sybase is helpful. Familiarity with Rally, HP Quality Center and HP Service Desk helpful.
